Boy sought in Amber Alert found in Omak

OMAK – An Idaho youngster who was the subject of an Amber Alert was found safe in Omak last week.

Ryan Shanholtzer, 11, was visiting his biological mother, Theresa M. Shanholtzer, 51, Blanchard, Idaho, but she did not return him at the designated time, said the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.

That office received a report of the possible parental kidnapping at 10:30 p.m. Sept. 5.

The boy and his mother were last seen at a Walmart store in Hayden, Idaho.

Based on the investigation, it was believed the boy was in imminent danger and was believed to have been kidnapped by his mother and possibly another male, so an Amber Alert was issued, the sheriff’s office said.

The Omak Police Department located Theresa Shanholtzer’s vehicle early the next morning at a local motel.

The youngster was recovered at 3:10 a.m. Sept. 6.

Theresa Marlene Shanholtzer was arrested and booked into the Okanogan County Jail the afternoon of Sept. 6.
