OKANOGAN – A proposed horticultural pest and disease control assessment will be discussed by Okanogan County commissioners during a public hearing today, June 8.

The hearing will be at 3:30 p.m. via Zoom from the commissioners’ hearing room, 123 N. Fifth Ave. People may join at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84524624389, with the meeting ID 845 2462 4389, or by phone at 253-215-8782 with the same meeting ID.

The proposal calls for a flat rate per parcel plus a uniform rate per acre. The proposed per-parcel assessment is $1.61 per parcel on 46,100 taxable parcels plus $2.25 per acre for 27,103 tree fruit acres.

Commissioners can accept or modify the proposal, or refer it back to the Okanogan County Horticultural Pest and Disease Control Board.
