Fire meeting planned tonight in Winthrop

WINTHROP – A fire information meeting is planned at 6 p.m. today, Sept. 17, at the Winthrop Barn, 51 Highway 20.

National Incident Team 2 and Okanogan County Emergency Management will provide information about the Crescent Mountain, McLeod and Holman fires.

The meeting will feature a video and Google Earth presentation showing fire effects. The team will live stream the meeting on the Crescent Mountain Facebook page for those who are unable to attend.

As of Monday morning, the Crescent Mountain Fire, up the Twisp River, had burned across 51,931 acres and was 75 percent contained; McLeod, north of Mazama, had burned across 22,898 acres and was 86 percent contained, and the Holman Fire, in the Pasayten Wilderness, had burned across 302 acres with no containment.
