Firefighting, prevention included in federal omnibus

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A government funding bill signed Friday by President Barack Obama includes billions of dollars for wild land firefighting and fire prevention.

The Fiscal Year 2016 Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act was approved Friday by both the House and the Senate and signed later in the day by Obama. The $1.1 trillion spending package averts a government shutdown and funds federal agencies through next fall.
