Man arrested on suspicion of child rape

Law and justice concept

BRIDGEPORT — A Brewster man has been arrested on suspicion of second-degree rape of a child.

Luis Aparicio-Martinez, 19, was arrested March 8 by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Okanogan County Jail, where he remained as of Monday, March 12. Bail was set at $100,000.

Douglas County Sheriff Harvey Gjesdal said his office was notified Jan. 18 of a child rape that occurred at a home in Bridgeport. A 19-year-old man allegedly had intercourse with a girl, 12.

“A detective was assigned to the case and, after collecting witness statements and DNA evidence, the male suspect was identified,” Gjesdal said.

He praised the “tenacious” investigative work by his officer.
