SPOKANE — The Spokane office of the National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch for much of central Washington, including Okanogan and Ferry counties.
The watch, which was issued Monday afternoon, calls for heavy snow through Wednesday evening.
“Heavy snow (is) possible,” meteorologists said. “Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.”
According to the watch, 1-2 feet of snow is possible in areas above 4,000 feet elevation, with total snow accumulations of 10-15 inches below 4,000. Wind gusts could top 40 mph.
On the valley floor, officials said occasional light snow was expected yesterday, with heavier snow expected Tuesday night into Wednesday.
