TONASKET - North Valley Hospital has a new wound care clinic for non-healing and complex wounds.

The clinic provides the expertise of Pat Gauthier, registered nurse, who has 25 years of experience in advanced wound treatment.

Gauthier worked in the San Francisco Bay area from 1991 to 1996 with HF Systems, covering all nursing homes in the East Bay from Oakland to Livermore.

“This was my boot camp for learning about all types of wounds as I consulted on greater than 100 severe wounds every week and developed treatments based on contract dressings for the nursing homes,” Gauthier said “It was great experience and I learned how to read the tissue to know what type of dressing to use for various issues in wound care.”

From 1996 to 1998, Gauthier worked with Pegasus and consulted on wounds from San Francisco to Monterey, Calif., in serving hospitals and physical therapist groups.

From 1998 to 2000, her work partnered her with DeRoyal, covering five states and national wound care trade shows. She also worked with KCI to in service the VAC for three months from Tacoma to Bellingham.

“I love to heal wounds and to see them heal more quickly that expected,” she said. “The national average for healing chronic complex wounds is 40-60 percent. The techniques I use heal 90-95 percent. I have had the opportunity to consult on wounds from Oroville to Davenport as well as with Mid-Valley and North Valley hospitals since 2000.”
