THORP — A teenage woman was killed and three injured in a one-vehicle crash along Interstate 90 shortly before 4 p.m. yesterday.

Sofia C. Milstead, 18, of Ferndale, was pronounced dead at the scene near Milepost 99.

Her passengers, Alexa M. Smiley of Lynden, Katherine N. Webb of Blaine and Nicole C. Deboer of Sedro-Woolley, all 18, were all injured and transported by ambulance to Kittitas Valley Hospital in Ellensburg.

The Washington State Patrol said all four teenagers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash; and neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have been factors.

Milstead's car, a 1999 Subaru Legacy, was eastbound when the teenager improperly changed lanes, the patrol reported.

The driver veered to the right across the lanes, hit the shoulder and over-corrected, sending the vehicle sliding sideways on the roadway, the patrol said. The car then overturned and rolled, coming to rest on its roof.
