Wenatchee councilwoman announces run for 12th District House seat

WILBUR — Linda Herald announced May 7 she will seek the 12th District state House of Representatives seat being vacated by longtime Rep. Cary Condotta, R-Wenatchee.

Herald, 66, currently serves on the Wenatchee City Council with seats on the finance committee, Wenatchee Valley Misawa sister city board and Chelan/Douglas homeless steering committee. She also manages the Wenatchee Convention Center.

The 39-year Wenatchee resident plans to run as Republican.

Herald enumerated her top priorities as the healthcare, agricultural and tourism industries; businesses; education; protecting constitutional rights and reducing homelessness.

Other declared candidates include Independent Ann Diamond, who resides in Winthrop. East Wenatchee Democrat Chris Goehner announced his withdrawal from the race May 9.

The seat, which covers Chelan and Douglas counties and sections of Grant and Okanogan counties, has been occupied by Condotta since January 2003.
