1944-2022
Roy Moses, 78 of Omak, Wash. passed away Aug. 13, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer. He died at home, surrounded by his family.
He was born March 3, 1944 to Alvin and Rita Moses in Omak. Roy attended catholic school until the eighth grade then transferred to Omak High School where he graduated in 1962. At a dance at the Grange Hall in Pateros, Wash., where he was playing drums for the Okanogan Valley 49ers he met Sandra Cain. They were married in June 1962. Their first son, Troy was born during the fall of 1962 and their second son, Todd, followed in March 1964. Roy and Sandra lived in Chelan and he worked in the grocery business for some time as a manager. After their son, Troy, died of Cancer they moved to Hillsboro, Ore. where he continued in the grocery business. He also worked for Western States Fire Apparatus where he had a knack for wiring and welding on the firetrucks they built. In 1969 they welcomed their third son, Thane, and continued living in Hillsboro until 1970.
After his divorce from Sandra, Roy met Jan Donohue and was remarried in 1974. They lived in the Hillsboro area for over 30 years. Roy got into truck driving and never looked back. He had over 2 million miles driven with only a couple minor incidents. In those 30+ years he worked for many companies hauling just about anything you could imagine. His last employer, Pendleton Woolen Mills out of Portland, was the best he ever worked for. He retired in 2004 and traveled all over the U.S. for the next 10 years before landing in Spokane to be near his son and grandchildren. Roy moved back to his hometown, Omak, in August 2021 where he passed away exactly one year later.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Rita, his son Troy, his son Todd, his wife Jan, his stepdaughter Lisa, his brother Paul, and his brother Mark.
Roy is survived by his son Thane (Tina) Moses, of Spokane; sisters, Jan Pillow, of Omak and Marla (Peter) Ford, of Seattle; brother, Greg (Linda) Moses, of East Wenatchee; grandson, Justin Moses, of Prescott, Ariz.; and granddaughters Brittani Managhan, of Prescott and Jackie Randell, of Spokane, Preslie Winterton, of LaGrande; and many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
