Steve was born Jan. 3, 1948 in Emporia, Kans. and passed away Sept. 4, 2020 at his home in Omak, Wash. after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
He is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Victoria, whom he married October 6, 1967; four children, Kelly Emery, Kim (David) Chira, Bobby (Jon) Wilson and Lonnie (Carry Huppuch) Emery; grandchildren, Shelby (Tyler Field) Emery, Drake Chira, Cameron Emery, and Garrett and Whitney Wilson; great-grandchildren, Mary-Ellen and Sally Field; sister, Beth, and her daughters, Shelley (Kevin) Swift and Shirley Laird and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Wanda Emery; and granddaughter, Caitlyn.
As a child his family moved from Kansas to California where he lived until moving his family to Tonasket, Wash. in 1980. He operated heavy equipment most his life at various jobs including Port of Sacramento, Tony Grillo Trucking, retiring as owner operator of Emery Trucking. He served 11 years at Penryn Fire Department in California earning fireman of the year in 1973. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1977 and was actively involved in the preaching work and building new Kingdom Halls from California to Canada and as far back east as Nebraska. He enjoyed the outdoors and traveling. Even thou he retired from truck driving he loved taking long trips in his diesel pusher RV and spending winters in Arizona.
He will be buried in Paola, Kans. and funeral services will be Zoomed the end of October.
