SPOKANE — No. 2 seeded Pomeroy girls ground out a 49-39 win over No. 9 Entiat in the state 1B quarterfinals March 1 in the Spokane Arena.

The Pirates won every quarter, but never by more than four points and only by three points for the final two quarters.

Entiat led 29-22 at the half and 37-29 after three quarters.-50 (34 percent).

The Pirates won the boards - 42 to 32 but the Tigers had fewer turnovers, 8 v. 12.

Natalya Paz led entail with 14 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Entail takes on No. 5 Mount Vernon Christian in a loser-out consolation game March 2. The winner advances to play the winner of the No. 6 Selkirk/No. 7 ACH game on Saturday for fourth- and sixth-place.
