OMAK — Omak blanked Oroville 25-14, 25-12 and 25-11 in a non-league volleyball match Tuesday.

“It was a great first game,” Omak coach Shannon Huff said. “We had a good serving night.”

Stats: Taylor George 7 serving aces, 9 set assists; Shantell McCune 6 aces; Rhylee Zachman 8 digs, 4 aces; Kaitlyn Short 6 kills; Sidney Nichols 5 aces.

“The girls played really well as a team Tuesday and it resulted in a win,” Huff said.

Liberty Bell is at Oroville on Tuesday. Omak is at Manson on Thursday.

Volleyball: Okanogan 3, Waterville 0

WATERVILLE – Okanogan topped Waterville 25-13, 25-14 and 25-13 in a non-league volleyball match Tuesday.

“It was a total team effort with a lot of girls contributing to the win,” Okanogan coach Ray Cross said.

Stats: Belle Blair 6 kills; Kendra Sachse 5 kills; Dallas Heindselman 5 kills; Renea Taylor 5 serving aces.

Volleyball: Manson 3, Liberty Bell 0

MANSON – Manson kicked off the volleyball season winning 25-12, 25-21 and 25-21 over Liberty Bell on Tuesday.

“The Trojans played loud, high-energy volleyball and all contributed to a great win,” said Manson coach Hayli Libbey-Thompson. “Setter Abbie Reed also gave a solid performance to help pull off the win against Liberty Bell.”

Manson stats: Celina Mendoza 12 kills; Megan Clausen 7 kills, 8/8 serving; Kendall Petre 7 kills; Sandra Diaz 8 digs; Briseyda Landa 4 digs, 8/10 serving, 2 aces; Alyssa La Mar 8/8 serving, 2 aces; Kassie Macias 15/17 serving, 4 aces.

Liberty Bell’s junior varsity won 25-8, 25-15 and 25-9.

Manson stats: Sarah Simmons 5 kills, 5/5 serving, 1 ace; Marylein Bernarado 8/8 serving, 1 ace;

Manson is at Pateros on Monday.

On Tuesday, Liberty Bell is at Oroville and Manson is at Entiat.

Volleyball: Lake Roosevelt 3, Bridgeport 2

BRIDGEPORT – Lake Roosevelt eked out a 3-2 league volleyball win over Bridgeport on Tuesday.

The Raiders won 25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 17-25 and 15-10.

“We only had six girls who were eligible to play,” Bridgeport coach Paige Stevie said. “They played very good, but lost it in the last match. It was a very close game.”

On Tuesday, Lake Roosevelt is at Waterville.

Bridgeport is at Soap Lake on Thursday.

Volleyball: Tonasket 3, Soap Lake 2

SOAP LAKE – Tonasket edged Soap Lake, 3-2, in a league volleyball match Tuesday.

“Good season opener for the Tigers,” Tonasket coach Johnna Sutton said. “As a team we served 89 percent with 23 aces.”

The Tigers prevailed 25-16, 25-12, 16-25, 16-25 and 15-9.

On Thursday, Waterville is Tonasket and Bridgeport is at Soap Lake.

Volleyball: Pateros, Brewster start net play

In other volleyball matches this week, Manson is at Pateros on Monday while Chelan is at Brewster on Tuesday.

The Bears and Nannies are scheduled to play in the same pool Friday in the SunDome in Yakima.

Also in the pool are Stevenson and Granger.

How teams do Friday determines who they play Saturday.

“It’s always fun to share the court with Gene (Dowers),” Boesel said of the Pateros coach.

Soccer: Warden 9, Okanogan 2

OKANOGAN – Warden topped Okanogan, 9-2, in a non-league soccer match Sept. 2.

The Bulldogs trailed 3-1 at the half before the Cougars went on a 6-1 run in the second half.

Rachelle Hamilton scored both of Okanogan’s goals.

In Okanogan’s jamboree Aug. 31, the Bulldogs edged Omak 1-0 on a goal by Hamilton and assist by Jillyan Taylor.

Okanogan topped Tonasket 4-2 in another match.

Bulldogs scorers were Allie Eastridge from Trinity Wood; Wood from Eastridge; Jasmine Yusi from Hamilton, and Hamilton from Allie Johnson.

Tonasket is at Okanogan and Omak at Oroville on Tuesday.

In other matches next week, Ephrata C-squad is at Bridgeport and Liberty Bell at Cashmere on Monday.

Tuesday matches also include Lake Roosevelt at Manson.

Smoke cancels events

Poor air quality because of wildfire smoke led to several competitions being canceled last week.

Matches canceled Tuesday included:

• Ephrata junior varsity football at Okanogan junior varsity.

• Tonasket cross country jamboree.

• Oroville at Omak in soccer; rescheduled to Oct. 7.

• Brewster at Chelan in soccer.

The entire opening day of Caribou Trail League, Central Washington 2B League and Central Washington Athletic Conference soccer matches was wiped out because of smoke. Matches canceled included Brewster at Chelan, Oroville at Omak, Eastmont at Cashmere and Ephrata at Cascade.

On Thursday, the Brewster at Lake Roosevelt and Bridgeport at Okanogan soccer matches were canceled. It will be made up Oct. 26.

The Ellensburg cross country invitational – Brewster was to run - scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 9, was canceled. It will not be made up.

Brewster is at Bridgeport for cross country at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
